I really enjoy Icarus, as I have seen it three times now. Bryan Fogel the director and the main character, besides Grigory, did a great job in this film. My biggest question about this documentary is, how did Bryan get in contact with Grigory? Why would Grigory, the head of anti-doping in Russia agree to make a film with this no name (sorry Bryan) director, that tells all of the Russias doping secrets? I find it hard to believe that Grigory, would willingly share all of these secrets and risk his family and his lives, but I do not know what the caveat is. But boy did the secrets come out about doping and the Olympics. I love how the film showed how they would swap out the uraine samples. It is such an elaborate scheme, to pull off and not be caught blows my mind. I would rewatch this film a fourth time, it was that interesting. The fact is, doping in the Olympics is still going on and people are getting away with it. Grigory left his family and is now in protective custody in the US, due to the danger if he still lived in Russia. Even though Grigory cheated, the film does a good job of not portraying him as a villian, but actually to root for him. I hope Grigory is doing well, as nobody knows where he is or heard from him.
